The Dean K. Phillips Memorial Chapter has supported veterans, service members and their families across Northern Virginia since 1985 — with rent when it is short, a ride to the VA, a mentor in court, and a room full of people who understand.

What that has meant
The chapter raises money from its own members and neighbors, and pays it straight back out to veterans in Northern Virginia. Every figure below comes from the treasurer’s annual report.

Join us
I served during the Vietnam era
Life membership is $50, once, with no further dues. In-country service is not required — anyone who served during the era is eligible.

Checks, cash at meetings, a vehicle you no longer drive, or clothing and household goods collected from your door.
What the chapter does
Scholarships and school speakers
Chapter members have been telling students what the Vietnam War was actually like since 1987, and funding scholarships for Northern Virginia students since 1985.
Remembrance
The chapter marks Memorial Day and Veterans Day at The Wall, and dedicated the POW/MIA chair at Nationals Park — a seat that stays empty on purpose.
Mentoring veterans in court
Chapter members serve as one-to-one mentors in the Fairfax County Veterans Treatment Docket, which helps veterans facing charges tied to addiction and PTSD.
Come to a meeting
You do not need to be a member, and you do not need to call ahead. Come for dinner, stay for the speaker.

Third Thursday of the month
Nine meetings a year — none in July or August

Anyone is welcome, including spouses and guests. You do not have to be a member to come to a meeting.
